A Level results day is a highly anticipated day for those eagerly waiting to receive results. The thought of exams and colour coded flashcards might be a distant memory, or you may still be recovering from the many hours of revision and studying.

We hope that you are pleased with your results and can take the opportunity to celebrate your achievements with friends and family. If you have not done as well as you’d hoped, you may be feeling disappointed and unsure about the next step.

You may want to consider Clearing as an option if you do not hold any offers and want to make a late application to study. The University of Winchester has a dedicated Clearing helpline (01962 827234) that you can call between 8am and midnight, once you have received your results. You can also talk to them on Live Chat.

If you have confirmed Winchester as your firm choice, your Student Union looks forward to welcoming you to Winchester next month! In preparation, we recommend opening a student bank account; it’s worth doing your research to find the best 0% overdraft. Some banks also offer additional incentives such as a free Railcard or Tastecard, so do shop around.

We’ll be on hand to help you with moving in and finding your way around, so be sure to say hello! For many students starting University means leaving home, often for the first time, and moving to a new city. For some people this will be an easy transition but for most students it will take time to settle in. Allow yourself time to adjust to a new lifestyle and remember that other people will be having similar feelings to you. Leaving your door open while you’re in your room is one way of creating an opportunity for a conversation to start.

If you are a mature or commuting student, you can still get involved in as much as you would like to! The Freshers period is jam-packed full of events and entertainment, with something for everyone.

If when you arrive at Winchester you have any questions or worries, please get in touch. You'll also find lots of helpful info on our Advice Centre pages.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and see you in September!
