Description

Who are Winchester Polo Team?

Polo is a fun, inclusive and friendly team who provide an amazing opportunity to play polo, at a much-reduced cost, compared to clubs outside university. Each year we grow stronger thanks to new members joining our amazing family. Each Wednesday we train at Hampshire Polo School in South-Wonston, where we are taught skills, technique, and everything else we need in order to play at a competitive level. Not only do we play a unique sport, but we also host a variety of lively socials which are a great opportunity to get to know your team outside of the arena!

Competitive Opportunities:

Twice a year we compete at the University Nationals (SUPA), where we play against other universities from all over the country! It’s an amazing opportunity to not only show off the skills we’ve learnt throughout the year, but to meet many people from other unis as well as a weekend spent getting to know those from your own much better! No matter your ability, we will find a team for you, and you will only play against those matching your skills. SUPA is completely optional, so if the competitive side of polo isn’t for you, you don’t have to compete. Your still welcome to come along socially to cheer your university on!

Who can join Polo?

The simple answer… anyone! Even if you’ve never ridden a horse before, or if you’ve been riding, your whole life, your welcome just the same! Everything you need to know will be taught by our very talented instructor! Even if the horses aren’t something you fancy, you don’t have to take part in the sport! Simply join in with our socials, in particular BOP each week at the Student Union!
