Winchester Student Union proudly presents The Summer Ball 2020!

Mark the date in your diary for the biggest event of the year. 

We invite you to join us for the formal event of the year, an unforgettable evening to celebrate the end of the academic year. Across 3 levels of a transformed King Alfred’s Centre, hosting a range of live music, entertainment and performances, this is an event that can't be missed.

We are delighted to announce our amazing headline act for the Ball as Rak-Su!

Rak-Su is a four-piece group from Watford who triumphed in The X Factor, in December 2017.

Rak-Su – which stands for ‘tracks vs. suits’ and the juxtaposition of carefree youth and adult responsibilities – are not only the first male band to win the competition, but also the first ever X Factor act to have had three of their singles top the UK iTunes chart while being on the show, including original tracks Mona Lisa and I’m Feeling You. The day after being crowned the winner also saw Rak-Su achieve an incredible five songs in the iTunes Top 6 at one point, including Dimelo at No.1.

Alongside, our headline act Rak-Su, we are thrilled to be able to provide current students Ebony Cantwell and Harry Harding an opportunity to showcase their wonderful skills on our Main Stage during the night, alongside our in-house DJ’s on both Level 3 and Level 1 of the event.

On Level 3 of the Ball, be sure to visit our Silent Disco Tent, where you can grab your headphones! Choose your channel! Party the night away! You’ll presented with a pair of wireless LED headphones with two channels, which correspond to the two different DJ’s on the stage playing a range of varying styles of music.

Want to create a lasting memory from the night, our roaming photographers and videographers will be on hand to capture those memories, but also head to our unique ‘Ball Pit Photo Op’ located on Level 3 of the Ball. You’ll also find our free Ice Cream Bar on that same Level, alongside our bespoke Prosecco and Gin Bar on Level 3, alongside our standard cocktail and mocktail bars, to kept you refreshed whilst you try your hand at some of the various carnival games available on the night, or whilst you head to the ever-popular Karaoke stage on Level 2.

 

Tickets are now on sale, so whether you want to celebrate finishing your first year at university or want the perfect way to end your time here at Winchester, make sure you spend it with us on Friday 15^th May. 

We to enjoy the event with a guest who doesn’t study at the University? That is absolutely fine, each current student can sign in one guest to the Ball. Guests will require a valid ticket.

The event has sold out for the past 3 years, so grab your ticket will they still remain! (We’ve even reduced ticket prices from last year by £5 for 2020!)

Tickets: £30 Available from here on our website or the Terrace Bar (Mon-Fri 8:30am - 7pm). We have made tickets available from our Terrace Bar to avoid the additional online booking fee charge via our website.

Doors Open: 8pm, Doors Close: 10:00pm


Dress Code: Recommended Formal, as many people like the opportunity to get dressed up for the occasion, however, please do come in whatever you feel comfortable in.

Wristbands will be available to be collected in the build-up to the event. Please note - once you have collected your wristband please take care of it. No wristband, no entry!
