The Climbing Society is a group of individuals with varying experience and ability, joining together to enjoy the sport of climbing. We welcome and encourage anyone to give climbing a go. You can come as little or often as you like!
It is a fantastic sport that works your problem solving skills, communication and leadership, as well as the physical aspect.
On Mondays, we take the minibus down to Red Spider in Fareham. This is a bouldering gym (a style of climbing with shorter walls and no ropes), this is our most popular evening. Most Thursdays we drive up to High Sports Alton for top-rope and lead climbing (higher walls with ropes).
Both styles of climbing are open to complete beginners and guidance from the experienced society members is always available. Our focus is on having fun and improving yourself.
The society is socially active, with regular BOPS, pub outings and other events, headed by Lewis Moulding our social sec. We also try to host one big climbing and mountaineering trip a year, as well as more frequent ones to Wales and Dorset.
Please enquire with any questions you have. Hope to see you there.
(NB: students are required to pay a fee to the climbing gym for each session, and to hire equipment if required)
