Your UnionStudent Representation

Student Representation is one of the main reasons that the Student Union exists; we are the main representative body for students at The University of Winchester. The officers you elect as students attend committees and working parties at all levels of the decision making structure to feedback input for students. More of Winchester Student Union’s structure can be seen democracy/elections pages.

For academic subjects though we share the responsibility with you - through your Student Academic Representatives (‘StAR’s).

Student Academic Representation (StAR):

Students elect StAR’s each year to speak at meetings for the whole group.  Reps are therefore empowered, as they represent the majority of students as a group. It’s not a great time commitment so YOU should think about volunteering.
There are numerous benefits in becoming a rep and here
are just some:

• You’ll be at the cutting edge of what’s happening (you’ll be ‘in-the-know’) and you’ll have real influence to solve any problems on your course and also make it better for the future.
• You will feel great - knowing that you are doing a vital   service for all the students on your course.
• You will enhance your skills and probably learn new ones whilst being a real member of a decision making committee.
All this is useful for your CV!
