Winchester Student Union exists to provide representation, advice and extracurricular opportunities for the students of the University of Winchester (see the [your union] section for more details); it has existed to do this in one form or another since the 1960’s.

Just like any other organisation, the Union has undergone many changes over the years. Foremost amongst these changes include being granted control over its own licensed venue in 1995/1996, changing its name from King Alfred’s Student Union in 2004 and the opening of the Union’s brand new, purpose built facilities in 2007.

In the last decade alone, Winchester Student Union has represented over 21,500 students, attended over 6000 meetings with the University, provided & funded over 13,000 hours of competitive sport & served more than 600,000 students in our bars and venues and more than 1.5 million through our shops.
