The University Centre - The University of Winchester
We're in our new home and all SU facilities for our students and staff are open in The University Centre - our brand spanking new venue that houses our huge new venue ' "The Vault" and our Terrace bar and Games Room, along with new offices. The centre is the new face of the university - a multi-million pound face!
The four story buidling also contains new university's dining facilities, bookshop, internet café, reception, and boardroom!*
* Work on some of these facilities is being finished as we write during Freshers week.
It means excitement for us...
We've new bars, more staff, a much larger shop, and a new structure - and we're free of the confines of the original SU building, which limited capacity and meant queuing on busy nights!
Great times are ahead! It's a new era... we'll be providing more facilities but we still have the same ethos: to provide the best possible support and services for everyone studying at The University of Winchester - to make the student experience even greater for you all. We cannot wait to open up all the great new SU facilities to all our new and returning student members and admitted guests. It's the centrepiece of the King Alfred Campus... A note: please can we remind everyone that building sites are not safe places and we do not want you to get hurt - so please be aware of the site and be aware of the extra lorry traffic that may be manouvering around etc.
The building layout:
Level 1: (Ground floor with entrance facing The Stripe) - Mini-mart convenience store and Student Union venue space (up to 1,200), large bar, and beer cellar.
Level 2: A terrace bar and separate sports bar with views down into the venue space.
Level 3: A food hall complete with kitchens and serving areas designed to offer a range of meals and refreshments. Offices for Student Union staff will also be on Level 3.
Level 4: (Top level facing the main entrance to the campus)
The Main University Reception for all visitors as well as the bookshop and Board Room. The Learning Café (with wireless and networked internet access) will also be located on Level 4 with views down into the food hall.
