Opportunties within University/Student Union
Being involved with volunteering gives you access to a wide range of benefits:
- enhance your CV and employability
- enhance your personal and professional development
- develop new and transferable skills through new experiences
- volunteer in a role which relates to your career aspirations
- volunteer in a role which complements your chosen studies
- make a difference in your community and help others
- challenge yourself
- use your experience for your PDP portfolio
- gain academic accreditation for your volunteering (this is a new initiative currently in the early planning stages at the university - more details will follow)
The volunteering service, based within the Careers department at The University of Winchester, is available to all students and staff at the university who are keen to gain the benefits that volunteering has to offer. There is a wealth of opportunities available - something for everyone! Support and information is on offer for UK based volunteering.
'Opportunities and Projects' are advertised via the volunteering database (please see the relevant link from the drop down menu). The volunteering service is able to provide direct contact details for the voluntary and charity organisations shown and also support for volunteering enquiries you may have.
Also, if you are considering setting up your own voluntary community project please contact the Volunteering Co-ordinator for assistance with establishing community contacts and/or volunteer recruitment.
You can commit as little or as much time as you want to volunteering... So give it a go!!
