2003 - LES ARCS 1800

Though I'm still looking for the pictures I was given from this holiday (some real good ones) I can at least write about it.

This was my first holiday with the then "ski society" and it was one of the most amazing holidays I have ever had. Many thanks to Ian Howie, the organiser of that holiday!

When I got on the bus I knew no one, by the time we'd left winchester I knew at least 6 of the 24 people, by the time we'd reached London to pick up the other college I knew everyone on the bus - you could imagine how close we were after a 28 hour bus journey...

The skiing, snowboarding in my case, was amazing, a little icey on the 2nd day but we got a great snow fall and the conditions were great for the rest of the holiday. The night out were crazy - I wasn't a big drinker at the time, so I insisted that I shouldn't drink much...how they changed me. I drank with them all night and was still out on the slopes at 8am for a full day. I wasn't the only one doing this either!

There were checkpoint runs in a competition that was like something out of "I'm a celebrity get me out of here!"...the team I was in won, and if you ask nice enough i'll tell you all the sick stuff we had to do to win it. There were mass group skis around the most picturesque areas of Les Arcs, big meals, amazing nights out, coffee in the morning at the highest cafe in the resort...all this and more!!!

2004 - VAL THORENS

Well well well...what is there to say about this one guys. How about, as a start at least: AMAZING!!!!

This holiday rocked, only 16 beautiful people in the end but it rocked the cas-bah big time. The 22 hour journey there flew past as we shared the bus with members of Cambridge uni - yes they do fullfill the stereotype - and a few soldiers - who didn't fullfill the stereotype.

We arrived early, got our rooms sorted out, got our equipment and headed out around the town for a few well-earned brews. The few brews turned into a whole bunch of brews and set the standard for the whole holiday.

With snow on the 3rd day sking was at an acceptable standard, amazing boarding from some new members including a phat 540 by our very own Dave on the last day with a few other tricks for the rest of the holiday.

Again, Winchester set the standard for horror in the valley rally, big well done to the boys and girls of team "Red Necks" who won the whole valley rally with some amazing performances of an animal orgy that I myself witnessed...never will I forget that.

The nights were rocking too, pizza and curries, beer and cold evenings with some immense drinking games (like your mum was very popular) and even a night time meal on the mountain, a great fondue that was followed by a great deal of booze and a ride down the mountain in the middle of the night...great stuff!

Great stuff SaS, loved it and love you. Lets make next year even better!!!

2006 - TIGNES 1850

Well, we don't know what happened to the 2005 trip, so here's a small part of what happened on our trip to Tignes.

The first part of the trip was spent on the long coach journey, with everyone waiting with anticipation until we reached Calais and could buy lots of duty free! Big thumbs up to Mark for blowing a large amount of money on two large crates of Special Brew, which lasted him about 8 hours! There was a massive cockup in terms of accomodation when we arrived in the resort, which involved trekking for twenty minutes through the town will all our luggage, to find we were in the wrong building without knowing where to go next. But from here, everything went rapidly uphill, as people hired their equipment for the next day, and the rest of us fueled our spirits with food and alcohol.

The next morning saw one rather keen snowboarding member of our motley crew breaking his arm within two hours of being on the slope! As for the rest of us, the day was spent happily bombing around the slopes, up and down the glaciers, using our lift passes to their full extent, and enjoying the sun while it lasted.

Although some of us had rather large hangovers on the day of the valley rally, Winchester had no hesitation in pulling out all the stops on the slopes, with gratuitous acts of vileness, depravity and lots of nudity, resulting in a lot of happy happy memories for us as well as the Wasteland reps!

Nights were well spent in the Yeti Bar, with several themed nights, (top superhero outfits everyone), and even a pole dancing competition with a pair of ski blades up for grabs! We couldn't quite believe it when the week came to an end, especially when our coach driver somehow got us back to Winchester in a record half the time it took to get out there!

Good times SaS people, lets just keep it up, keep the spirit alive, and let the next one be bigger and better!
