A few words from the Student Union President... (this is an "Extract from What's On Winchester" - week 12 edition)...
"Now I’m not one of these people that goes all giddy at the first frost in December, nor do I faint at the sight of snow, I’m not even a massive fan of the artic conditions we are going through at the moment - shock horror. But I’ve got to say… I do ruddy love Christmas!!!
Whether it’s Noddy Holder exclaiming ‘IT’S CHRISTMAS!’, or the mere thought of that delicious Turkey (or other meat-free product if you prefer that sort of thing)... there’s something about the whole Christmas period which makes me very festive and thankful to the people that have made this first term amazing.
But at this fun time of frolics and festivities (that’s some great alliteration by the way), please remember to stay safe, especially when you’re having a drink over this break.
Just a few Christmas thanks to a few people before I go away for a bit:
Thanks to everyone whose helped us out this year at the SU: big or small, your contributions have been really appreciated and we couldn’t have got through this term without you. A massive festive thank you to our full time staff and student staff, as well as a big thanks to all of the Exec team and Union Council reps for their great work in supporting the SU in everything we do.
And... most of all I’d like to thank you - the Students of our great University for being who you are and making this place the amazing place that it is.
Please remember to be safe while you’re enjoying yourself.
That leaves me with very little left to say other than - don’t be silly or stupid with your alcohol consumption - rather, really have a cracking time over the break and come back safe and sound for next term.
I’ll leave you with words from the biggest TV star of 1998, “Good morning, and in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!” (Trueman Burbank, ‘The Trueman Show’, 1998)."
Don’t Stop Believing (In Christmas),
Steve Bowers, Student Union President
