Book Club 2011-12!

This year, we hope to make Book Club bigger and better than ever. We’ve already looked at a range of different genres, including science fiction, children’s books, gender books, graphic novels, film adaptations, and horror…
We’ve held meetings at the beautiful P & G Wells Bookshop, the Black Boy and the Golden Oak…

As the year goes on, we hope to have more film nights, pub socials and trips, so keep an eye out for events on our Facebook page.

You can join at any point during the year, just come along and see what you think!

We’re all extremely friendly, and have a habit of going off on tangents during discussions! It’s the perfect society to meet like-minded people, and make some good friends.

Book Club 2009-2011

In 2010-11, we gained a new committee, and decided we wanted to do even more awesome things! We had a trip to the zoo and to the British Library in London, and had several socials at P & G Wells Bookshop and the Forte Tea Rooms, in addition to a very successful Freshers’ Fayre and lots of fun meetings.

In 2009-10,  we looked at the following themes, each read a book from that theme, and then voted on whose book should be read by everyone.

Horror - ‘The Woman in Black’ by Susan Hill
Autobiographies/Non-Fiction - ‘Surviving with Wolves’ by Misha Defonseca
Children’s Books - ‘The Little Prince’ by Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Film Adaptations - Movie Night! Watched ‘The Princess Bride’
Science Fiction/Fantasy- Own choice.

Socials…

Last year our socials included…
A trip to Hatchards Bookshop
Various meals & drinks out in town
Film nights
