Student Fellows Scheme Award Nomination

Friday 17-04-2015 - 13:13

The Student Fellows Scheme (SFS), co-managed by Winchester Student Union and the University of Winchester
received the incredible news this year that they had been shortlisted for the Guardian Higher Education Awards for the Student Experience Initiative Award.

Already the SFS has received a lot of attention for being a flag-ship student engagement initiative of change-agents in the UK. The SFS involves students being empowered to work on an equal ground with staff to tackle barriers to higher education and create enhancements to better the educational experience. In 2014 the SFS was also Highly Commended in the Higher Education Academy Awards for Partnership and has led to Winchester being the centre of Student Engagement nationally attracting advice and consultancy from Universities four times its size.

Though the SFS unfortunately did not win the Guardian award, Winchester Student Union is proud of its initiative having received such prestigious positive feedback in only its second year of running. Currently the SFS is set to go from strength to strength, with this April seeing the recruitment of the 2015-16 cohort of Student Fellows to continue their work in partnership with the University of Winchester.
