Winchester Student Union has recently become aware of the website ‘Ratemash.com’ where student Facebook accounts are being accessed without permission and using data such as photos to create ‘leader boards’ of girls and boys within the university.
The Union does not support this invasive behaviour and is currently investigating the options as to whether we can remove The University of Winchester as an institution from this website. We will keep students informed with any developments but in the meantime advise students to check their Facebook privacy settings and e-mail the website directly if you wish to be removed. Students are also encouraged to be responsible in their use of social media whilst keeping in mind the consequences and effects on other students.
