Go green 27 leaf

Did you know that domestic air travel (flights within England) has the highest carbon footprint of any public transport method?

Below are the typical carbon emissions for each method of transport commonly used in the country and you can clearly see which have the highest outputs (and therefore most harmful to our environment).

Domestic air travel = 257 g/km CO2

International air travel = 135 g/km CO2

Large car = 129 g/km CO2

Small car = 64 g/km CO2

Train = 27 g/km CO2

Coach/bus = 15 g/km CO2

Bike or walking = 0 g/km CO2

This is why your Student Union has an active policy to prohibit flying to any destination in England (and never for flights under 400 miles in the UK), and to always use the lowest carbon footprint method practicable.

We would also encourage you to consider the lowest impact method of transport and never fly unless you truly have too.
